DIY Birthday Card Friendly Hello
Did you see this DIY Birthday Card using Friendly Hello we made on my Facebook live last night? I always go live on Thursday nights at 7pm EST. Certainly, making birthday cards is one of the most fun cards to make and I’m so thrilled to share this one with you!
During the live I used the Friendly Hello stamp set and coordinating Designer Series Paper Bundle from the Sale-A-Bration flyer. You can earn this bundle for FREE by placing a $100 order before shipping from my online store during Sale-A-Bration. This promotion ends on February 28th. After that, this bundle will be gone!
The DIY Birthday Card Friendly Hello Colors
For the peach color, I used a Pale Papaya Ink Refill. And for the blue, it’s Misty Moonlight, and I used both the Ink Pad as well as a Stampin’ Blend. (Psst, Misty Moonlight is a retiring in-color and won’t be available after June 2022!) There’s just something about the vibrant, bright color of our Granny Apple Green. I then used the Ink Refill for that color as well.

The DIY Birthday Card Friendly Hello Details
Faux stitching on the edges of cardstock pieces gives cards a unique look. Also, these dies fit perfectly in the Mini Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine! I stamped the flowers and leaves using Versamark and heat embossed them with White Embossing Powder on some Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper.
After that, I used the ink refills to give the pieces a watercolor look with a Water Painter. (I used the old Aqua Painters in my tutorial video.) Also, I fussy cut the elements using my Paper Snips.
One of my favorite parts to putting these cards together is the layering! Stampin’ Dimensionals are perfect for getting that height from each of the layers. The edges of the Misty Moonlight cardstock and the Friendly Hello Designer Series Paper was roughed up to give it more texture.
I layered the Misty Moonlight mat on top of the Basic White Cardstock base. And then the DSP went on top of that, and I layered the rest of the pieces as shown in the photos.
And then, adding some twine from the Baker’s Twine Essentials Pack and pairing it with some of the Organdy Striped Ribbon in Pale Papaya really elevated the look of this card! Ribbon on my cards makes me so happy!
Finally, one of the finishing touches to the outside of the card are adding the Polished Dots, which I sprinkled around the top of the card. And voila! The outside is finished and looking so lovely!
Card inserts are a great way to add more stability and add a pop of color to an otherwise very plain card base. After that, adding a small strip of DSP to the bottom of the inside of the card is a great way to use those small left over pieces!
